Preparing for a Mommy Makeover Consultation

While breast augmentations, tummy tucks, and Brazilian butt lifts are all popular procedures, many women choose to have a mommy makeover. This involves several procedures at once and can include a breast augmentation, breast lift, Brazilian butt lift, liposuction, and/or tummy tuck. Doing several procedures at once works to create the body you want as a whole, often addressing changes after pregnancy and breastfeeding. In this article, we’ll discuss how steps to prepare for a mommy makeover.

Consult with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
The first step in preparing for a mommy makeover is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Bridgett Moore. It’s a good idea to come to your consultation with a general idea of what you’re wanting, but Dr. Moore will be able to help you determine what procedures are best for you, sizes of implants, and other questions or concerns you may have. Dr. Moore will also talk to you about risk factors like being overweight, a smoker, or conditions like diabetes.

Follow Your Doctor’s Instructions
After your consultation, your doctor may recommend you quit smoking, get lab testing or medical evaluation, and/or take certain medications or adjust your current medication. They will also tell you to avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements because they can increase bleeding. It’s important to follow all your doctor’s instructions leading up to the procedure and after the procedure.

Prepare for Your Recovery
When you have a mommy makeover, recovery can take anywhere from one to four weeks, so it’s important to be prepared for down time. Talk to your boss and co-workers about how much
time you’ll be taking off and don’t plan any vacations or traveling for the month or so after your surgery date. You will need to arrange to have someone take you and pick you up from surgery, and you may not be able to drive yourself around for a few weeks.
