Micro Laser Peels

What is a micro laser peel?

The micro laser peel is a rejuvenation technique that provides targeted treatment to problems areas like the mouth and around the eyes. It allows your doctor to focus on and treat wrinkles that detract from your appearance and confidence. This procedure is incredibly effective when it comes to treating wrinkles. In fact, you can see results in as little as one result. And, when paired with proper skin care treatment, this treatment can have longer lasting results than other treatments.

Micro laser peel works by removing the damaged layer of skin that is causing the tired, aged appearance you’re looking to get rid of. In addition to treating wrinkles, this treatment works well for keratosis, freckles, and skin discoloration.

What are the benefits of a micro laser peel?

This treatment provides you with radiant skin, while erasing signs of aging. Common complaints like sun spots, liver spots, fine wrinkles, freckles, and discoloration can all be eliminated through this treatment. It does not require anesthesia and is completely non-invasive. Prior to your procedure the doctor will clean your skin and apply a numbing cream to it so that you don’t experience any discomfort. You’ll then wear protective eyewear, while the doctor performs your treatment. She’ll position it over your treatment area and a precise computer guided scanner will target the areas. The procedure typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes.

Results are nearly immediate, and become even more obvious over a three day period of healing. Immediately after the procedure you’ll notice your skin looks pale. This is because the treatment has dehydrated your top layer of skin.

Because this procedure involves removing skin layers using a laser, you’ll need some down time prior to resuming normal activities. Plan to rest up for around five days. Depending on your overall health and lifestyle, however, downtime could be a little longer or a little shorter.

What are the disadvantages of a micro laser peel?

Although this procedure provides great results, some patients complain about redness and burning afterward. Because superficial peeling occurs while healing, you’re encouraged to take time off work or school, and to rest so you can maximize results. The Azalea Center team will provide you with an after-care cream to help with the peeling. There’s potential to experience residual dryness for up to two weeks, however, cosmetics and a good moisturizer can help resolve that. There’s also a risk of temporary skin discoloration, which will eventually go away because of the superficial nature of this treatment.

Additional risks include flare-ups in patients who carry the herpes simplex virus. If you have a history of herpes simplex and the doctor determines you’re suitable for treatment, you’ll likely be prescribed an antiviral medication prior to treatment.
